In the night of November 1-2, France's national blood service (EFS) experienced a cyberattack that compromised the cooling systems used for storing donor blood samples and frozen plasma. Attackers breached the contractor Coolworld's systems and remotely altered the settings of the refrigeration units, changing the temperature from -30°C to +110°C, affecting equipment at three locations.

Although raising the temperature to such extremes was physically impossible for the units, even a minor increase could have led to the spoilage of some blood and plasma supplies. Fortunately, staff managed to secure the supplies in time, resulting in no reported loss of blood products, according to EFS.

Simultaneously, a series of similar cyberattacks targeting supermarket refrigeration equipment has been recorded across Europe, impacting over a hundred retail locations. In light of this ongoing situation, OSINT analyst DefenceGeek continues to update a map outlining Russian operations against NATO countries, noting that cyberattacks have already affected 14 states. Other reported incidents include airspace violations by drones in Romania and Latvia, espionage activities in Poland, and arson in Romania.
